Music THERAPY
Music Theory is a health service where music is used as a tool to address any physical, cognitive, social, emotional, psychological, spiritual, or behavioral needs, this therapy helps people that have any issues with those areas. (According to Melissa Hirokawa) Music is use for positive change with any psychological, physical, cognitive, or social functions of individuals with health or educational problems.
Music could be used for Therapy, Counseling and Special Education. Music Therapy involves relationships, usually between a child and the therapist, or a child with another child, or a child with his or her's family. Music is created with participants. Relationships are structured through different elements of music to create a positive environment and set for a successful growth. Children are involved in singing, listening, moving, playing, and in creative activities that helps them become better learners. Positive behaviors and self- awareness becomes greater results of exploring music.

Goals of Music Therapy:
A mother of a 6 1/2 year old child diagnosed with Down Syndrome states: "Music therapy has helped has my son to learn turn- taking, sharing, listening skills and some colors, animals, parts of the body and clothes." (Child participated in group music therapy for 2 years in preschool and then in individual music therapy for 1 year in kindergarten)
